YES!!!YES!!!YES!!!

Ban Animal Killing Contests.

I can't believe that we are living in 2014, and that I'm writing these words now. Please take action, by signing the Wolf Army petition and emailing NM Governor Martinez to end NM Game Chairman Scott Bidegain's career. If he hunts coyotes for prizes? He sure as hell should not be employed to oversee wildlife care.
Thank you.

BAN ANIMAL KILLING CONTESTS
Animal killing contests have been popping up in the media a lot and commonly target predator or even so-called “pest” species for the sole purpose of trying to kill off as many animals as they legally can in one shot. They do this under the guise of “population control”, “predator management”, or “protecting people and property” but are for one purpose – mass killing.

Quite often hunting and trapping also result in “unintended catches” which include other animals, pets, even endangered species. Sometimes these unintended victims are deliberately killed but the hunter claims it was an accident thus legalizing poaching. When you multiply the number of hunters the number of unintended victims will also rise. These kinds of contests are very dangerous to the general public including families who are not participating in them.

The Wolf Army and the Wolf Army USA both strongly condemn animal killing contests and need your help to end this violent pastime. New Mexico Representative Nathan “Nate” Cote has introduced HB 316 which would ban these kinds of contests in New Mexico. We feel that this ban should be implemented nationwide.

Please sign our petition to show your support. As always, we will not share your information outside of the leadership of The Wolf Army as well as the Wolf Army USA board. When we submit the petition only your name (first and last), city, state, zip code, and optional comments will be included. We will not include your address or email address.

NEW MEXICO GAME COMMISSION CHAIR WINS CASH PRIZE IN COYOTE - KILLING CONTEST.

 PLEASE TAKE ACTION.
CONTACT NM GOVERNOR SUSANNE MARTINEZ AND TELL HER TO REMOVE SCOTT BIDEGAIN AS CHAIR OF NM GAME COMMISSION

New Mexico’s top wildlife official took part in a major coyote killing contest in Elko, Nevada last December, according to the Albuquerque Journal. Scott Bidegain, Chairman of the NM Game Commission, and his partner placed sixth out of 110 teams in the two-day event after killing eight coyotes, earning them a $1300 cash prize. A total of 307 coyotes were killed by all participants.

The fact that the Chair of the Game Commission—the entity responsible for overseeing the conservation and management of New Mexico’s wildlife—would condone this type of event much less participate in it shows a profound lack of judgment. He clearly is not fit to serve on the Game Commission.

Please take a moment to contact the New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez and urge the immediate removal of Scott Bidegain, Chairman of the NM Game Commission from his position

Utah Based Group Returning to Las Cruces for Annual Coyote "Hunt and Convention"

Predator Masters, a Utah-based group, will again hold their annual "hunt and convention" in Las Cruces, NM. The activity promotes seneseless killing, does not accurately reflect most hunters' attitudes towards wildlife, and definitely does not represent Las Cruces. Click here to learn more about the event.

SWEC urges Las Cruces City Council to oppose coyote killing “convention”
SWEC’s Executive Director Kevin Bixby asked the Las Cruces City Council last week to take a stand against the annual coyote “hunt and convention” planned by the Utah-based Predator Masters in Las Cruces on February 6-8.
Read more and take action here:

The event is motivated by the same disregard for life as wildlife killing contests in which participants compete for prizes to see who can kill the most animals. If you live in Las Cruces, click here to contact the Mayor and Council and urge them to pass a strongly worded resolution condemning this event in particular and these types of events in general. Las Cruces doesn’t need this kind of tourism.
